CRIF-NM CREDIT ASSURE HOSTS COCKTAIL AND MEDIA RECEPTION AT TERRA NOVA

Credit Bureau CRIF- NM hosted a cocktail reception on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel for their partners and prospective clients as an introduction to their suite of Credit Reporting products and services. Special guests and speakers included The Honourable Anthony Hylton, Minister Industry, Investment & Commerce, Mr. Rajeev Gopal, IFC Local Representative, Mr. Terrence Cooper, CEO CRIF NM, Maria Carla Gullotta, Italian Consular, Enrico Lodi, General Manager CRIF International /CRIF Italy and Mr. Norris Taylor, CEO MTIJ.

Minister Anthony Hylton addressed attendees on the introduction of Credit Bureaus and their positive impact on the Jamaican economy, while also welcoming CRIF-NM to Jamaica.

He stated “CRIF will play a significant role in increasing access to capital, unlocking entrepreneurial potential and ultimately helping to drive economic growth in Jamaica.” Minister Hylton also noted the importance of Credit Bureaus as an effective tool for screening and risk evaluation, forming an integral part of a developed and well functioning credit market.

Mr. Ranjeev Gopal, IFC / World Bank Representative (Jamaica and Belize) in his brief address to the gathering, spoke about IFC’s International Credit Bureau Establishment Programme, pointing out that “Financial Institutions need effective due diligence systems including credit information sharing”. with the establishment of Credit Bureaus as part of the Bank of Jamaica’s Credit Reporting Act (2010) he believes that Jamaica is leading the way in the Caribbean.

CRIF NM Credit Assure Limited is a joint venture between CRIF and Massy, founded with the objective of providing a world class credit bureau and related value added services to Jamaica and other countries in the Caribbean. The company will benefit from the experience, know-how, and support of both CRIF and Massy, with CRIF providing the Credit Bureau Operating platform, industry know-how, and value added products, and Massy providing the IT/ technology infrastructure, via local industry knowledge and experience (MTIJ) and through 80 years of business involvement in the Caribbean.
